Game-changing research that improves health outcomes
At the DCRI, innovation is at the heart of our research. That is why we believe it is crucial to shine a spotlight on the ways we are transforming how and when patients receive care. Each of these projects exemplifies our commitment to progressive and forward-thinking research.
Continuing to Transform the Fight Against COVID
As COVID-19 remains a major health concern, it is crucial to continue to pursue innovative treatment. For this reason, the DCRI has positioned itself as a leader in researching and validating new treatment methods. Through a joint partnership with the NIH, widely-used modulator drugs were found to substantially improve clinical status while reducing deaths for those with moderate-to-severe COVID-19.
Creating Better, Cost-Effective Care
Transforming patient care goes beyond finding new, effective treatment methods. It also includes helping ease the cost of care by reducing health care costs. A “win-win” study by the DCRI into pulmonary rehab for COPD patients managed to accomplish both. Patients reported extensive health and wellness benefits, while saving over $5,000 per patient.
Inspiring Global Progress
As thought leaders in clinical care, DCRI faculty and staff recognize that finding better therapies is just a step along the path to improving outcomes. Sharing that knowledge with other providers is key to improving healthcare around the globe.
- During the 2022 ACC Scientific Session & Expo, DCRI faculty and fellows participated in over 80 events, covering topics from interventional therapies and drug comparisons to professional equity and guideline adherence.
- At the 2022 American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, six DCRI faculty members presented late-breaking science results as part of main stage events, while dozens more shared their insights via live panel presentations, oral sessions and poster presentations.
- Seven DCRI researchers found themselves on Clarivate’s annual Most Cited Scholars list, showing how other scholars look to our team and their work for guidance and innovation.
- The DCRI published nearly 1,400 reports in FY22, including the highest number of high-impact reports to date.
